Manufacturing Technology

Advanced flight platforms are placing pressure on aerospace companies to adopt rapid manufacturing technologies that accelerate the supply chain and encourage innovation at every level, including product development, inspection and MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul). At the same time, there’s a growing need to lower fuel costs by efficiently replacing legacy parts or creating new product enhancements for aging fleets.

Metro Aerospace manufactures the Microvanes and the Locating Fixture tool used to install the Microvanes by leveraging leading-edge technology, Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing). Our products are produced using both Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) and Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) Additive Manufacturing processes and equipment, using light-weight, composite materials for both.

By using 3D printing solutions, Metro Aerospace elevates quality, standards, and integrity of our products, as well as, streamlines workflows, inspires collaboration, and supports new, innovative end-to-end solutions from concept to prototype to production. This allows us to cut lead times and costs, produce high quality products, and get those products to market faster.

Deliver just in time – Rapid Manufacturing

Although there is no shelf life for the Microvanes, our lean manufacturing processes allow us to deliver Microvanes at the time you need them, without having to pay for expensive storage or consignment or experience long lead times waiting for the product.

As the speed of innovation seems to approach that of sound, we can also quickly make adjustments and design changes without expensive rework. Tools, processes and end products are more thoroughly validated upfront to avoid costly errors that lead to waste, scrap, rework and retooling.

Environmentally Friendly – Green Manufacturing

According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Aircraft account for 12 percent of all U.S. transportation greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and 3 percent of total U.S. GHG emissions. Metro Aerospace is proud to use leading-edge manufacturing processes that require low energy sources and produce minimal to no scrap or waste products, making our overall manufacturing process highly environmentally conscience.  Additionally, and importantly, by reducing drag and fuel burn with our light-weight Microvanes, harmful emissions are likewise reduced.

Foundation for Growth - Adaptable Technology

By using 3D Printing technology, Metro Aerospace designers and engineers are empowered with the tools to design, iterate, and produce production-ready parts directly from digital 3D files; thereby, reducing the overall product development lifecycle while meeting the highly rigorous aerospace quality demands. Ultimately, the investment in technology and continuous improvement allows Metro Aerospace to provide quality parts with some of the fastest and most reliable turnaround times in the industry while positioning ourselves solidly for future product changes, standards, solutions, and innovation.
